Who we are

Rui J. Almeida has since 1974 been involved with major U.S. aviation organizations such as Gates Leajet Corp., AVCO, and McDonnell Douglas in their engineering and marketing departments. Graduated in Paris, France in Aeronautical Engineering and Business Administration, and in the US with an MBA, his career started in the technical field as a structures and dynamics engineer. In this area, his experience spreads from structural design and development work on the full Learjet product line through the Gulfstream II and III, the British Aerospace 146, the Apache AH-64A, the Boeing 757, and the Locheed L-1011 along withe various research projects in Fracture Mechanics, Ball Forming Techniques and Dynamic testing of Flight Vehicles.

In the commercial side of the aviation industry, his experience started as Regional International Marketing Manager for Europe and Africa for Gates Learjet Corp. where he coordinated a network of distributors, and was instrumental in marketing Learjet aircraft to private customers and to governmental agencies.

As director of Marketing & Special projects of the Sonae Group in Portugal, he prepared and coordinated feasibility studies towards the development of a regional airline. As President of Airsupport Services Corp., which he directed from 1989 through 1993 the company reached a yearly gross of US$10 million in spare parts and over US$40 million per year gross in executive aircraft sales. In 1994 he founded Target Aviacao Ltda. in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the exclusive distributors for McDonnell Douglas/ Boing commercial helicopters, Pilatus Aircraft and the entire line of Bombardier Aircraft including Learjet, Canadair, and Regional Jet. Target within two years of initiating operations totaled over $200 million in gross sales, representing a brand market share increase of over 200% for some of the represented manufactureres.

Rui has also worked as Director of Sales for Daher Socata marketing the TBM line of executive turboprops in Latin America, increasing the brand's presence in that market from 1 single TBM to over 50 in his territory, while at the same time managing distributors and authorized maintenance facilities.

Philipe Almeida began his career on the technical side of industry as well working as a product designer and consulting to companies on everything from automotive design to sports wearables. His official introduction to the industry came as a favor to a friend assisting in overseeing the pre-purchase inspection and export of an Agusta helicopter, after which he was hooked. He was a founding member of ASA Consulting in Brazil and constituted their US office complementing international sales efforts of executive jets and helicopters. After founding Jetwaves with Rui Almeida, Philipe has sold executive aircraft into and out-of every major market in the world. He is hands on with all areas of the deal from auditing aircraft maintenance, negotiating contracts, establishing market values, dealing with foreign and domestic regulatory entities, etc. His love of aviation was kindled at a young age and he brings that zeal to every deal.
